The Child Development Fund (CDF) was set up by the HKSAR Government in 2008. CDF aims at promoting the longer-term development of 10-16 years old children from a disadvantaged background through collaboration of the family, the private sector, the community and the Government, thereby reducing inter-generational poverty.
In 2013/14 school year, the government experimented a school-based approach in operating the projects. Our school, and S.K.H. St. Lui Ming Choi Secondary School successfully applied for one of the first batch of pilot projects which is now benefiting about 100 students of both schools.
The CDF school-based pilot project lasts for three years (2014-2017) and involves three key components, namely personal development plan, mentorship programme and targeted savings. These components are to enhance the children's ability in managing resources and planning for their own future.
